XLingo help

Answers to the questions parents and learners ask most about XLingo.

What each screen does

  • Languages. The course for each language, one lesson at a time.
  • My words. The words you have met, and the ones to practise again.
  • My progress. Which lessons are finished, for each language.

How do I...

How do I add a child?

A parent opens My family after signing in and chooses to add a child. Give the child a first name and the year they are in, then choose a username and password for them.

How do I choose a language?

Open Languages, pick a language and start from the first lesson, or take the short level check to find a good place to begin.

Do I need a microphone?

No. You can listen and record yourself if you like, but nothing you record is uploaded or saved.

How do I sign in?

Choose Log in at the top of the page and use the email and password you made when you signed up. A child signs in with the username and password a parent set for them. Children do not have an email address.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

A parent can choose Forgot password on the log in page and we email a link to reset it. For a child, a parent can set a new password from My family.

How do I cancel or pause?

A parent can cancel online at any time from the account page, with no fee. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. A monthly plan can also be paused for 1, 2 or 3 months once the free trial is over.

What do you keep about my child?

A child has no email and nothing to buy. A parent controls the account and can ask us to delete a child's information at any time. Read the privacy page for the detail.
